You’ve heard about Ford’s re-release of the Bronco, but have you heard about the Ranger? That’s right, in addition to the Bronco, Ford will also be re-releasing the Ranger midsize pickup truck, adding it to its North American lineup by 2019. Despite strong international use, Ford has largely abandoned the model since 2012. However, due to popular demand, the company is eager to develop the vehicle for a new generation of drivers on both daily commutes to work and gravel road adventures.
This reveal came during a press conference at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show earlier this week. Running from January 8 to January 22, this convention allows many different companies the chance to preview their plans for future vehicle lineups.
For example, in addition to the Bronco and Ranger, Ford will also be introducing a diesel engine on its F-150 pickup model. The new fuel-efficient diesel engine option will be available by the summer of 2018. The announcement of this engine also coincides with Ford’s plan to release thirteen electrified vehicles by the end of the decade.
With new and lengthy standards to meet, Ford considers itself up to the challenge. Fortunately for the company, customers seem ready to indulge in Ford’s brand of SUVs, pickup trucks, and other crossover vehicles, as they have seen sales increase by five percent over the previous year. Despite the consumer base's constantly shifting preferences, Ford is confident that there are just some things that never go out of style.
