In the automotive industry, a mid-cycle refresh, which comes halfway through a model’s 8 to 9 year life span is usually just a nip and tuck. But for an important global vehicle like the Ford Mustang, it was a bit more than that. While the changes may seem minimal at first blush, they add up to a greatly refined model.
The big news is that Ford has reshaped the Mustang’s nose, dropping it three inches lower, and changing the shape of the headlamps. The V6 engine option is kaput, with Ford bolstering the torque output of both the four-cylinder and V8 engines, and adding an optional ten-speed automatic transmission. This transmission will hold first gear longer in some situations, like full-throttle launches, increasing the car’s fun factor and overall refinement.
But of course, there’s even more to learn. Check out the video above for the whole story. You can also learn more about the existing Mustang, or other 2017 models by contacting our Ford dealership in Kenner, LA whenever it’s convenient.
