We were ecstatic to discover that Motor Trend named the 2017 Ford Super Duty Truck of the Year! The Ford Super Duty passed Motor Trend’s thorough testing regimen and came out on top of the competition. Motor Trend evaluated the truck in the areas of design, efficiency, engineering excellence, performance of intended function, safety, and value. We’ve always known that the F-250 and F-350 were exceptional trucks, but now it's official.
So what makes the Super Duty worthy of such a prestigious title? Well, let’s start with the technology. Remember when the first ever Ford Super Duty launched in 1998? Those were simpler times. Now, we are graced with a vehicle that boasts some of the industry’s most innovative technology. The Sync3 system by Ford allows for phone connectivity, navigation display, and audio. Vehicle functions such as climate control and seat position are also controlled with the touchscreen.
Ford’s Trailer Reverse Guidance System makes maneuvering a trailer a breeze. A system of cameras and exterior mirrors allows you to see where the trailer is at all times. Additional cameras also allow you to have a view of the truck bed. Blind spot warning, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control all come together to create a state-of-the-art vehicle. Ford assistance features are available for those of us who are not so technologically inclined. The 2017 Ford Super Duty blends capability and usability seamlessly. The trucks feature a standard 6.2-liter V-8 turbo engine that provides 440 horsepower and 925 pound-feet of torque.
With the new 2017 Super Duty, maximum conventional towing increased to 21,000 pounds. You know what you can do with a towing capacity like that? Tow some massive stuff! The bodyweight of the Super Duty has been reduced by up to 350-lbs and the frame is 24 times stiffer. These factors result in a 7,630-lb maximum payload.
Recently, A 2017 Ford Super Duty showed off its impressive towing skills by setting a world record when it pulled a 45-by-92 foot flag down Homestead-Miami Speedway. The truck set the "World's Largest Flag Pulled by a Moving Vehicle” record. We can only imagine that a flag of that size must be heavy. Obviously, towing a gigantic flag is well within the capabilities of the 2017 Ford Super Duty. Is there anything a 2017 Ford Super Duty can’t do?
