Beyond showcasing new models and technology at the New Delhi Auto Expo, Ford is planning to gain greater inroads in the market with a one-billion-dollar investment in the creation of two local manufacturing facilities as well as a 50-percent increase in employees.

Michael Robinet, Analyst, IHS Automotive, explains, "In many ways, India is as critical for Ford's Asia prospects as either China or Thailand. India is a developing vehicle sales market where Ford needs to establish an appreciable sales, production and eventually, a vehicle development footprint."¹
