Ford Fusion Hybrid Set to Beat Competition

Ford's new Fusion Hybrid took auto industry fans by storm during its recent unveiling at the January Detroit Auto Show. Now, the vehicle is getting amped up to hit Lamarque Ford lots. Soon, everyone in Kenner, LA can take a test drive.

Ford is excited too. In fact, the company believes this model will be one of their most successful, even outselling hybrid full size sedans from foreign competition.

The updated vehicle, which goes on sale during the second half of this year, reaches a city MPG rating of 47, with 44 MPG highway. This outdoes most Japanese competitor vehicle by 2 or 3 miles per gallon.

"It's good for the customer, and we like to have this competition," says Chuck Gray, chief engineer for hybrid and electric powertrains. "Engineers may not be the best athletes always, but we are very competitive people."1

By 2020, Ford hybrid and plug-in vehicles will hopefully be solar powered only, or charged by solar energy. This is a prospect the company is looking at closely. They also hope to push sales of green vehicles up to anywhere from 10% to 25%. Only time will tell in this case.
