Ford Taurus hit dealership lots running back in 1986. Since that time, this vehicle has become one of the best selling sedans in North America, and without a doubt one of Ford's staple cars.

The original Taurus wasn't a boxy 80's hunk of metal, but a light,fiberglass curvy goddess, which influenced many other car companies to rethink vehicle design. Since Taurus launched, Ford has constructed 7,519,919 models through 2007 alone! It has become the fifth best selling North American car in Ford's history; "only the F-150, Escort, Model T, and Mustang have sold more units."¹

During the mid 1990's, Taurus became a US best selling car. Taurus also went through many different body styling changes in the 90's, and was available in wagon form.

Ford decided to discontinue Taurus in 2007 to focus on SUV sales. It was replaced by the full-size Five Hundred and midsize Fusion sedans. A new wagon, Freestyle crossover, was also introduced, later renamed 'Taurus X'. After years of absence, people wanted Taurus back. Their prayers were answered in late 2009, when the auto maker announced a 2010 Taurus.

Between starring in Hollywood films (Robocop), making a successful return to Lamarque Ford in Kenner, LA, and rebooting Taurus SHO (a high performance variant, first built from 1989 - 1999), fans have proven this ride is, and may forever be, their favorite Ford sedan.
